About the collection
The aim of the “Mommy, I’m Breathing” project is to equip Slovak hospitals and their maternity and neonatal wards with Babysense breathing monitors for every bed / baby, and to lend monitors to families from socially vulnerable groups.
The Babysense breathing monitor is a certified medical device and effective protection for children at risk of SIDS — if breathing stops or slows to a life-threatening rate, it triggers an audible and visual alarm.
Proceeds from the collection fund the purchase of breathing monitors placed on neonatal and neonatology wards according to the region where the collection took place.
Partnership with KiK
Our long-term partnership took on a new dimension in 2021 — when the 100th store opened in Slovakia, KiK symbolically donated another 100 breathing monitors for neonatal and maternity wards.
The collection runs in all KiK stores in Slovakia — each has a collection box for voluntary contributions.
In this way KiK helps newborns and their mothers, who can sleep more peacefully thanks to breathing monitors.
„In 2018 we supported the purchase of 100 new breathing monitors with a contribution of €9,900. They were placed on neonatal wards in maternity hospitals across Slovakia. Our longer-term goal is for every bed in Slovak maternity hospitals to be equipped with one. That is why we decided to support the public collection again this year, and we believe it will help save hundreds of children’s lives.“
