Nadácia
Križovatka

A non-governmental non-profit organisation founded in 2008.

Thanks to donors and sponsors, we help equip Slovak hospitals and maternity wards with Babysense breathing monitors, which are registered with the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic as a medical device and have undergone several years of clinical testing.

At these departments we set up rental locations that allow parents of at-risk babies to borrow a breathing monitor for home use for as long as needed.

We are the only organisation in Slovakia that raises awareness of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). We highlight the risk factors that contribute to its occurrence and ways to minimise them. Our information can help save lives.

How we fulfil our mission

We equip hospitals with breathing monitors

project: Mommy, I’m Breathing.

Our main activity is facilitating the donation of breathing monitors between a donor/partner and a hospital. We approach companies, organisations or individuals and arrange their contributions towards donating these devices. Often these are companies that are regionally close to the recipient hospital, or that have a personal connection to the hospital through experience with SIDS.

This process involves many formal steps, including drafting donation agreements and handover protocols, issuing a press release, securing photo documentation, careful record-keeping and physical preparation (applying partner logos) of the monitors being handed over, arranging logistics for transport, and organising a ceremonial handover at the hospital, to which we always invite representatives of our partners.

We establish breathing-monitor rental locations across Slovakia.

So that mothers and fathers of newborns can sleep peacefully at home too — after experiencing that peace of mind in hospital, where a breathing monitor watched over their baby’s breath — we help set up and operate rental locations at hospital departments and Dr. Max pharmacies. Breathing monitors are loaned for as long as the infant remains at risk.

This work involves a great deal of administrative and organisational effort, which is why we work closely with selected nurses in hospitals and Dr. Max pharmacies.
